Swedish denim brand, The Local Firm hit the Scandinavian fashion scene in Autumn 2008 with cutting edge, high fashion jeans that were inspired by the European Industrial age and Bauhaus era. Both enlightenment periods promoted functionalism and minimalism through different shapes and colors which The Local Firm channels for their innovative collections.
For S/S 14, The Local Firm pays homage to big city living with their collection entitled, ‘White Concrete’. The collection mixes formalwear and sportswear by repurposing jersey and sportswear fabrics that promote function and allow for the wearer to switch gears when they are hit with a change of plans in the big city. The moody and elegant collection captures the highs and lows of city life like the wonder when you first arrive and explore and the feeling of loneliness, anxiety, and despair that comes with living in a highly populated area.
The edginess as apparent as the lack of color in this collection, so maybe New York City isn’t the only place where people go “all black everything”.
