Adina Mills has been blurring the lines between craft and fashion for years, and while her pieces are first and foremost works of art, the are by no means unwearable. By combining the natural world with an urban and modern edge, Mills succeeds in creating gorgeous hand sculpted jewelry. This girl is the real deal and her pieces are amazing, check out a preview of the SS14 collection below and hear what she has to say about what she does, how she’d feel if she wasn’t doing it, and why it’s impossible to name the one thing that always in her bag. Oh, and don’t forget to come see the collection at Capsule New York Womens, August 15-17.
What prompted you to start designing?
Some people know they are meant to be doctors or teachers; I always just knew I was meant to be an artist.
Talk a little bit about the inspiration behind the SS14 collection.
My collection has always imbued a sense of urban versus organic and now having spent the last three years living in my motorhome and cruising through nature and city landscapes all over the country, I cant help but constantly be inspired by the various surroundings i get to live in. SS14 continues on from my previous collections in a fluid manner but incorporates new painted color schemes and exciting minerals and shapes.
Describe the line in one or two words…urban meets organic
