Founded in 2008 by former gallerist Greg Armas, Assembly New York / Los Angeles is a CFDA brand member and independently owned retail and eponymous designer brand. Assembly opened its second location in addition to their NY cult favorite 170 Ludlow shop, in Los Angeles, California. With an address in one of the most tenured retail destinations in the country, Melrose Ave., and housed in an historic deco 1930s corner building, the new retail space is a fitting home for Assembly to showcase their international roster of independent designers, fine jewelry, accessories & select vintage, alongside their namesake his/hers RTW collection.

Designed by Armas, a chiefly white environment flooded with sunlight, the 1850 square foot minimal space is dotted with the thoughtful, trademark touches Assembly is known for in the form of solid marble elements, exposed construction elements and found object placement.

Having previously owned the boutique Scout Los Angeles until relocating to New York in 2008, Assembly designer & CEO Greg Armas says about returning to LA, “In my mind I never left LA, it has always been about incorporating a west coast feel into the east coast mentality. Now with both shops, we can really tell our story and I am looking forward to more.”

Similar to the New York location, Assembly Los Angeles will continue to showcase new designers such as Sandy Liang, CF Goldman, 69, Feit, Building Block and Nektar de Stagni in a galleryesque setting, hosting events and debuting their own new designs, including Assembly shoes launching in the summer. Taking into account the varying clients, the LA space will house additional brands from NY including Eckhaus Latta, Telfar, and Nomia.

We caught up Greg Armas, founder and designer of Assembly New York / Los Angeles who will bring a selection of his favorite emerging designers to Capsule Show New York Women's Sept 17-19.
