Contemporary menswear wiz Todd Snyder has collaborated with the iconic sportswear brand Champion to create a capsule collection that seamlessly blends the signature Snyder knack for sharp tailoring with the heritage and tradition of the brand famous for making some of the most durable and comfortable clothing around.
The debut collection is titled “City Gym”, which is Snyder’s take on the all-American athletic clothing that Champion has been producing for almost one hundred years. Snyder lends his penchant for classic tailoring to a collection that features signature Champion pieces now updated and revitalized for the man who wants to look good at the gym.
“The Todd Snyder brand is a perfect complement to the Champion brand and we share his excitement in creating this new product line inspired by Champion heritage,” said Ned Munroe, Chief Design Officer of Champion athletic-wear.“Todd’s history of working with iconic brands and adding a modern aesthetic to archived Champion apparel means consumers can rediscover the authenticity and quality of Champion.” The collection will consist of 35 pieces and includes “merino wool varsity sweaters ($275 retail), waxed duffel coats ($450 retail) and modern wool flannel varsity jackets done in athletic heathers and loden olives ($700 retail).”
If that’s not enough, Snyder has also designed “a hooded marsh coat ($800 retail) made of Japanese brushless fleece, a pair of knit cargos ($250 retail), button fly pants made from a heavy athletic jersey and trimmed with chino fabric”, as well as a “slim-fit suit ($1,600 retail) and tie ($95 retail) made of the iconic reverse weave sweatshirt fabric” that has made Champion famous.
The full collection will be available this August, but for now you can satiate your thirst for well-made goods with the assortment of t-shirts, knits, sweatpants, and sweatshirts released early on the Todd Snyder website.
