SS17 Preview: Charlotte Stone

June 28, 2016 BY WATM STAFF

To say that Charlotte Stone has creativity in her DNA is not just a dramatic praise of her classically chic shoe line (although we're swooning over the candy-colored array of pared down footwear) -- she actually comes from a family of graphic and interior designers, making it no surprise that her designs are such a visual treat.

Her design career began on the west coast, at FIDM, and she continued her craft in the shoe mecca of Italy. While her wares are for delighting below the ankles, her e-commerce site rife with lifestyle inspiration, and home line, Pacific Wonderland, make this lady well-rounded to say the least.

(c) You've grown up surrounded by creatives, and are married to one! How has this played into your professional path?
There’s strength in numbers! We have a lot of creative friends and family that are all going through the same things we are. Trying to run a business and maintain your creativity (and sanity) is hard, so having a community is HUGE. And my parents are like wise sages. They’ve both collaborated and had separate creative careers while being married for over 40 years. We lean on them a lot for advice.

(c) Can your followers see any influences from the cities you've called home in your designs?
We left the city last year to be up by our favorite surf spot and be closer to the ocean. This town is like stepping back in time, I think its definitely influenced the next collection. Expect lots of 50’s beach vibes!

(c) The visuals on your site are amazing, where do you draw your influence from?|
CS: Thank you! Its all about mood and color. I’ll be thinking about a shade of green or something, and I’ll start to see it everywhere, those random encounters end up on the blog, like a visual diary.

(c) What are you most excited to share for SS17?
CS: COLOR COLOR COLOR! Plus some great new (always comfortable) heels and sandals and updated favorites!
