Shopkeep: Dahlia Brue, Idun, St. Paul

August 26, 2016 BY WATM STAFF

Dahlia Brue left a career as an event planner in magazine publishing to open her beautiful loft-like shop, Idun, in St. Paul, Minnesota. She opened the store in May 2014 after two and a half years of meticulous planning. “I wanted to make sure I took my time learning about the industry and making sure everything was right before jumping into it,” said Dahlia.

The space itself is airy and simplistic, one of the main attractions—aside from the gorgeous collections—being the beautiful exposed brick wall lining one side of the space. The current lineup of brands includes a number of current cult-favorites, such as Studio Nicholson, Nomia, Trademark, Maryam Nassir Zadeh, and Martiniano.

“I live in St. Paul and have a strong affection for this city," she said. "Cathedral Hill is historic with a strong sense of community amongst business owners and residents.”

Her favorite picks:

Nina's Coffee Cafe

This is the cornerstone of the neighborhood! They also recently opened a juice bar called Naked Nina's, which is a great place to get something fresh and clean!

165 Western Ave N

Solo Vino

My favorite wine shop. Interesting selection, super helpful staff, and a beautiful space.

517 Selby Ave

Happy Gnome

They are located right across the street! Serious beer selection and gastropub fare. Best dry rub wings in St. Paul.

498 Selby Ave

Black Blue

A men's clothing store who really introduced me to the neighborhood. They carry super cool lines and the owner, Steve, has a great eye.
