Oi Polloi was founded in Manchester in 2002 to help revitalize the then tired and stale menswear segment that preferred fast fashion over slow production. The store houses a multitude of contemporary brands and items from all over the world that have a commitment to design, quality and being transcending trends. With over 10 years in the game, Oi Polloi has a following like no other giving men more reason to head to Manchester when they fly to England.
We caught up with Oi Polloi owner and buying director, Steve Sanderson, to talk about SS14, the future of menswear and the future of his business.
What do you expect to be a major trend or must- have item/classification for SS14?
Everybody’s gone surfing and if they’re not surfing they look like they’ve strolled off of their mega yachts…
Which collections are you most looking forward to seeing and why?
Engineered Garments, OrSlow and Remi Relief.. 3 labels that are sports/casual personified. EG we’ve worked with for a while, always a highlight for me. OrSlow and Remi Relief are new to us, both are pretty special. All three labels, I’ve placed personal orders with. Damn!
How do you see men’s style evolving for next summer?
More sportswear, less beards and more hair.
Do you sell anything in your store besides fashion? What’s hot now?
Magazines, Sideburn being a particular favourite.
What’s in store for your store? Do you have any news, or major plans you’d like to share with us?
Another very nice collaboration with Clarks Originals not avaialble until SS14, you heard it here first.
Oi Polloi is on 63 Thomas Street in Manchester and is open Monday through Saturday from 10am – 6pm.
