Pour Porter, which operates in Denver, is a carefully curated e-boutique that sells innovative independent designers' ready-to-wear, shoes, and accessories. The selection is pure, design-centric, and does not try to attract buyers through prominent names and brands. The focus is to bring fashion back and unify those that have an affinity for fine construction. Pour Porter is more than an e-store and blog, it's a game and life changer.
We caught up with Noel W., the mind behind Pour Porter about how she buys for the store.
What do you look for when you're buying for the new season?
Whatever resonates with me. I'm a very intuitive buyer.
Is there a certain style, pattern, or detail that always seems to catch your eye when you're buying for a new season?
It really depends on what is appealing to me at that particular point in time. I do find myself consistently drawn to interesting silhouettes, textures, or prints.
Does what you buy for the store compare to your own personal style?
It's typically what informs all of my buying decisions. I do buy things that I wouldn't personally wear but feel fits with our shop's overall aesthetic.
How have your clients responded to your tastes? Have you witnessed their style evolve into yours?
I wouldn't say I've noticed a particular pattern in what our customers buy. We do have some customers who purchase regularly and I feel I get a glimpse of their personal style but I don't feel that we're necessarily influencing what they're buying. I think it's more we're carrying pieces that they feel fit their lifestyle and personal look.
Do you sell anything in your store besides fashion? Whats hot now? ?
When we first launched, we started out carrying a few objects and then shifted focus to strictly clothing and accessories. As we've grown over the years we've gotten back into offering home goods. Ceramics seem to be pretty popular with everyone right now, and I love me a good mug and our customers seem to as well!
Whats in store for your store? Do you have any news, or major plans youd like to share with us?
We're working on a major redesign and a shift in focus. You never want to get too comfortable. We're always looking for ways to shake it up and innovate.
