June 25, 2013 BY WATM

Pitti Uomo is well-known for being a good indicator of the coming seasons trends. Of course a part of the answer to this phenomenon lies in the trade-show's sample collections, which are presented by over 1,000 brands, but the answer is two-fold people attending to the fair generate a huge following of trend hunters who document and build off of what they see and take the looks world-wide. Running shoes

For the past few seasons, Pitti Uomo almost became synonymous with brogues and loafers. This year this majority of feet gracing the streets of Florence shifted as running shoes replaced these two on many of the Pitti people. We saw sneakers on boys and girls, paired with shorts, jeans, chinos and even with suits. If colors are involved, its even better. It is interesting to see that the trend almost exclusively concerns but two brandsNew Balance and Nike.

Camo 2.0

Of course Camo is not new in the game, but its interesting to see how brands are altering the pattern and colors in ways that generate a new and improved pattern. For instance, the military print is getting more and more discrete in it's lines. We saw white-background camo print by Waths, a more smoky and charcoal-grey tone by Presidents, a blurred version by Joe San, geometric shapes by Pierre-Louis Mascia (right), and a hybrid check and circle pattern by Carhartt.

Checked B&W

Although the pattern lost some of its street cred during Vuitton's winter show last year, this black and white favorite is gaining and growing in popularity. This seasons black and white, is reminiscent of ska waves in sixties and two-tone in the late seventies, and it is exactly those thoughts that Gitman Bros and Levis Vintage Clothing chose to call upon when creating these shirts.
