NYFW Recap: Weekend Review

September 09, 2013 BY WATM

It was a star studded weekend at NYFW. Celebs were in attendance all weekend catching shows and rubbing elbows with us fashion folks. Here's our recap of this past weekend.

We started our day much later with Brian Lichtenberg. Lichtenberg made a name for himself with his parody tees, but last Friday he showed that he takes his work more seriously than people may believe. He unveiled his full SS14 collection in two sets, we caught the first batch of looks that mixes high-end luxe Madison Ave woman, the streetwear Harlemite, the chic SoHo and Meatpacking girl, and the party girl that wants it all.

After Lichtenberg's show we made our way to Lincoln Center for Todd Snyder. The CFDA/Swarovski Award Nominee consistently captures the effortless style of the young New York City professional. The varied collection is inspired by 1960s icons that enjoyed breaking and rewriting the rules of menswear.

On Saturday night, Robert Geller swept us off our feet with his SS14 collection. The models walked with hats but the stars pieces came in layers-- literally. Our favorite pieces came in the form of layered tops in different patterns and colors.

Our Sunday began with Isaora. The futuristic presentation was a display of technological advancements in fashion as well as how fast, forward moving, and forward thinking menswear designers are.

Then, it was time for the main event - Mark McNairy New Amsterdam. McNasty is known to have a few tricks up his sleeves like Danny Brown a year ago, but this time he came out in a big way. A few guest celebs like Nick Wooster and Pusha T modeled McNairy's SS14 digs that consisted of daisies on seersucker, rubber ducks on camouflage, vibrant plaids, jerseys, and trousers and chinos that were banded like sweatpants. (Look for a more in-depth review of this show later today!)

NYFW has gotten better and better and as we approach the final days this week we're anxious to see what designers have in store for their latest collections.
