Leading off Stockholm Fashion Week is J. Lindeberg. The brand was founded in Stockholm in the year 1996 to bridge the gap between fashion and function. Fashion has long since strayed away from function, but the J. Lindeberg brand aims to reverse time on the unwritten rules of fashion while simultaneously moving forward with modern designs fit for an active lifestyle. Tailoring is a major part of the brand and they incorporate it into their sporting lines – golf and skiing – and in turn design their fashion line with those sports and other sports in mind.
For SS14, head designer, Jessy Heuvelink drew inspiration from the complexities and wonders of the insect community. Heuvelink’s fascination with insects has led to this collection that magnifies the small insects into large creatures throughout the collection exploring “nature’s never ending genius to create functionality.” The collection’s designs and color palette resemble insects especially the all-over printed pieces and the pieces with a sheen over the fabric.
