Japanese-inspired company Tokidoki is looking to capitalize on the growing fame of Choupette Lagerfeld, Karl Lagerfeld’s Siamese cat, with the recent lauch of a capsule collection featuring the Kaiser himself and his beloved pet as a recurring motif on shirts, scarves, and pants.
The collection also features an assortment of collectible figurines that highlight the loving relationship between the famed Chanel designer and his darling cat. Lagerfeld made headlines earlier this year when he commented that “there is no marriage yet for human beings and animals. I never thought I would fall in love like this with a cat”, and has since opened up about his relationship with Choupette, calling her a “stunning beauty” and admitting she has two personal maids that cater to her every need.
Tokidoki is now making Choupette accessible to a significantly larger audience through the online retailer Net-A-Porter, and select Lagerfeld concept stores in Berlin, Paris, and Amsterdam. As Lagerfeld proudly states, “You know personally I don’t even think I’m that famous. Now, Choupette, really is famous. She has become the most famous cat in the world”.
