Visionary London-based designer Hardy Blechman launched Maharishi in 1994 with the aim of offering utilitarian clothing that was fair-trade, environmentally friendly and of the highest quality. Those characteristics remain the hallmarks of this line, which has become famous for its seasonal use of unique camouflage patterns in a self-described “pacifist approach to military design.”

The inspiration for the FW 16 collection, which debuted during the recent London Collections Men fashion week, is divided into two themes: clothing worn by religious devotees across the globe such as Buddhist monks and the “uniforms” of subcultures, groups, gangs or tribes. Badging and Insignia are key details and some have even been left blank for the wearer to fill in if he desires to customize his piece with the name of his group. An orange inspired by Buddhist monks’ robes is the brand’s dominant color for the season.
