At Home at Capsule NYC: Burkman Bros

July 23, 2014 BY ALEX DELANY

With the passing of an incredibly successful Capsule NYC Spring/Summer 2015 show, we at We Are The Market wanted to highlight some designers who call New York City their home; the ones who showed their products in their own backyards. For the series At Home at Capsule NYC, we stopped by the designers' booths to chat and figure out what pieces were their favorite and most representative of their new collections.

Doug and Ben Burkman: Burkman Bros

Brothers Doug (pictured above) and Ben (pictured below) started off designing clothes at Gap, and since leaving and forming Burkman Bros in 2009, the duo has solidified their names as one of the most well rounded and curated casual menswear labels on the market. Their Spring/Summer 2015 collection boasts serious variety, but amidst all the excitement there is a particular emphasis on the texture and direction of thread and weave.

Doug chose two cotton pocket T-shirts that feature an embroidery at the top of the pocket, one is a shark (!) and the next, a phoenix-like bird. These are both extremely versatile pieces that can add a touch of unique flair to a beach kit or even just a pair of dark denim.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Ben chose some really incredible shorts as his favorite pieces in the new collection. You could wear this with a variety of tops, or you could just pair it with one of Doug's tees from above for an incredible all Burkman Bros kit. That would be a good idea.
