New York based Rochambeau presented their SS16 collection last week at Capsule as part of Perspective – the special section of forward-thinking brands curated by Harvey Nichols’ head of menswear Darren Skey. The collection debuted to rave reviews at NYFW:M and then had a strong showing at Capsule.
“For Spring 2016 we began looking at Michel Foucault's Of Other Spaces, Heterotopias,” explain the designers. “Spaces that are neither here nor there, between physical and mental; getting a phone call, seeing yourself in the mirror. Tying this back to urban spaces, asylums, airports- particularly NYC spaces like the TWA terminal JFK airport designed by Eero Saarinen. We found inspiration in the silhouettes of these structures and the people the pass through but never stay.”
