Tumblr's Creative Director Exits

Former creative director, Jacob Bijani, shared his departure with the company as a post on his Tumblr blog. How fitting? Here we have more game-changing news hot on the heels of the closing of Yahoo's billion dollar purchase of the company. Bijani posted,

"Today was my last day at Tumblr.

Five years ago I joined a team of four as Tumblr’s first designer, creative director, and product engineer. That team has since grown to 182 of the most wonderful and talented people around.

I’m so proud of what we’ve all created together, and it’s been a privilege to contribute to something beloved by so many. I can’t wait to see what’s next for the product; I’m sure it will be nothing short of incredible.

There’s still a lot more I want to accomplish, and I’m really excited about this next chapter. For now, I’m going to take some time off to digest the last few years. I have about a dozen different projects planned, so expect more from me soon!"

Big changes are coming for fashion's favorite blog site. News of Bijani's departure is a significant as a successful designer exiting one of the more prominent fashion houses. The #menswear community lives and thrives on Tumblr as well other fashion publications that have found their niche on the site. We foresee a mass exodus coming for the company that has given blog shelter to some of the industry's most popular bloggers, especially the menswear community. We joke about #menswear addicts swearing by monkstrap shoes and Tommy Ton photos, but the community itself is what helped the growth of the mens side of the fashion industry. If Bijani's departure results in a 180 degree turn for Tumblr then it may fall to the wayside like fashion forums that have been hushed for years. Will this spurn the end of #menswear?
