This past summer, Italian fashion house Fendi announced its plans to team up with luxury car manufacturer Maserati to co-design a special edition automobile. Despite his affinity for collaborations (seriously, the man has far too many to number), Fendi designer Karl Lagerfeld wasn't directly involved in the project - rather, it was Silvia Venturini Fendi, grandaughter of the label's founder and current head of accessories, who played a key part in designing a new logo for the collaboration. Unveiled in September during the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Special Edition Maserati GranCabrio Fendi car features an interior that's been lined with the same soft leather used in the luxury house's Selleria line and signature yellow accents on the headrests and dashboard trim. The car was part of The Whispered Italian Grand Tour, a concept created by Fendi to document Italy's craftsmen, workshops and boutiques. In celebration of The Whispered Italian Grand Tour, The Selby made a trip to Rome where he photographed Fendi's atelier, the special edition Maserati automobile as well as a number of local artisans. Check out some photos from the trip below and head over to The Selby to view the album in its entirety.
