The Content Store Opens In London

Mark Batista is adding a little flavor to one of his favorite spots in London, Lamb's Conduit Street. The new shop, given the artfully ambiguous title of The Content Store, is looking to do just as it proclaims: add a little more content to London's menswear offerings in that part of town. "We are bringing together some of our favorite brands and presenting them within a welcoming environment in one of our favorite streets in London. We are welcoming everyone in the door, young or old, male or female, and we hope that whatever they are looking for, we have it," said Batista.

New customers will be able to browse through a smorgasbord of brands including Edwin Japan, CP Company, Ten C, Nike, Vanishing Elephant, Our Legacy, Alden, Patagonia, Sandqvist, Woolrich, Lacoste Live, Adidas Originals, Majestic Japan, Ebbetts Field Flannels, Baracuta, as well as other merchandise like Lexon radios, Seletti Stationary, magazines, books, MWC watches, and Garret Leight sunglasses. While the full line up of brands appeals to a wide audience, there are certain pieces are bound to be snapped up just as fast as they were set out on the shelves. Key items that Batista expects to go quickly include "MWC G10 Watches, CP Mille Miglia, Nike Air Max, Sandqvist Backpacks, and the Alden Indy Boot." The Content Store will also add e-commerce in September 2013.

The 39-year-old menswear industry veteran views the new shop as a way to grow closer to the end consumer, and foster a longtime love for retail. "I started in retail with Paul Smith back in 1993 and have always had a love for it. Dealing with the end consumer gives me a huge amount of satisfaction as well as important feedback which helps to no end in our sales showroom," said Batista.

With the new addition to his ever-expanding career title, we wondered if there was ever any time to stop and rest. His go-to book to pick up right now at the end of a long day? "I'm currently reading the Mr Men box set to my daughter every night," Batista said. But, at the end of a long day of making a new mark on London's retail scene, Mr Bump and Mr Fuzzy are probably the perfect companions.
