Nicholas K was founded in 2003 by siblings, Nicholas and Christopher Kunz. This brother and sister duo journeyed in different scholastic directions with Nicholas choosing a more creative route while Christopher focused on business. Their strengths combine to form a perfect balancing act that only close family members and long-time friends can maintain.
Their brand is the perfect uniform for the urban dweller- modern, chic, and easy to wear. The men's offering is very edgy and mysterious with a large selection of basics and staple pieces layered for a draping effect. For SS14, the Nicholas K man explores his Native American roots. "We came across antique smudge fans at a pawn shop on an Apache reservation in Arizona," the designers shared. "Researching it further, we found so many beautiful photos of Native American Shamans which eventually inspired us for the next collection."
Their piece of the season is a stretch canvas and washed leather Declan Jacket in an earthy colorway. The designers added, "It is washed for a weathered feel and has hand rubbed oiled seams that add richness in color and texture. The collar is a funnel neck with built in wire seams that make it moldable in any direction. The front closure has a hidden button placket that has a unique twill tape feature that allows for easier closing."
This piece is a must have any loyal follower of Nicholas K, and also for those looking to take their wardrobe in a new direction. No photos of the pieces can be released until Capsule (all designs are under wraps), but they leaked a mock up of their piece of the season and their inspiration board for the season. Don't get too excited now, you gotta wait until Capsule to truly feast your eyes.
The piece of the season and the full SS14 collection by Nicholas K will be at Capsule New York next month.
