Shopping Celebrity Closets with Curateurs

June 03, 2016 BY CAPSULE

Founder and former CEO of Karmaloop Greg Selkoe is back with a new e-commerce venture. Selkoe has announced the launch of a new men's shopping platform, a little over a year after stepping down from his position at the popular online retailer after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March 2015.

Selkoe created the new platform called Curateurs, along with tech entrepreneur Paul Judge. The duo designed the site to connect consumers with their favorite celebrities, artists, and influencers by allowing users to buy items straight out of their personal closets and private collections. The site will also allow celebrities to curate their own collections based on their favorites brands and items.

The shopping experience is enhanced with interviews with the chosen curateur, who talk about the products they have picked. The website also features photos and videos of the curateur’s looks and provides a community forum where users can discuss them, save them to style boards, or purchase them.

"We want to provide our customers the coolest stuff on the planet," said Selkoe in a press release. "Paul and I began reaching out to our contacts in the influencer and celebrity community. The resending response was, 'yes, we want to share our lifestyle. We realized that there were billions of dollars worth of goods associated with these influencers. We knew we were onto something big!"

Jeff Staple, A$AP Ferg, and Ryan Leslie are the first three influencers to be featured on the site. Fear of God’s Jerry Lorenzo, Raekwon, and Nipsey Hussle are set to contribute in the future. -- Erica Euse
