This week’s Shopkeep story features yet another sister shop duo. Christie and Poss Lambert run Colorado’s Cedar & Hyde, a beautiful space that they sum up as a “modern day mercantile.” With a mix of apparel for men and women, home goods, apothecary lines, and a selection of gourmet market items, they’ve covered pretty much everything. Some of the most notables in the shop right now come from emerging brands like Kika NY, Homecore Paris, Micaela Greg, and GREI.
Prior to opening the shop in October 2013, Poss earned her retail chops working in retail management and costume design in Los Angeles, and Christie worked as a personal assistant in the green energy industry while raising her teenage son in Boulder. “We initially were not convinced Boulder was going to be the right match for our concept, so we hit the road ‘shopping’ for towns,” said the sisters.
“We quickly realized what an important part community was going to play in our potential towards success, and took another look at the town Christie had called home for the last 20 years," said Poss. "Once we switched our focus to Boulder, it was clear this town had a need for what we were offering, and we needed them too. It was the perfect match for starting something from scratch.” Using their local knowledge and impeccable taste, the duo gave us the inside scoop on a full day of good food and drinks in the area.
