Woolmark has announced the finalists for its prestigious competition today, and have named several very directional designers in the running. Congratulations go to Capsule family brands Second/Layer, Rochambeau (above) and Pyer Moss in the US, and Craig Green, Liam Hodges, and Baartmans & Siegel in the UK for being named finalists in the prestigious International Woolmark Prize for 2016/2017. The designers, among several others in the menswear and womenswear sectors will be competing for over $50,000 in prizes, as well as distribution in some of the world's top stores.
To compete, each nominee is asked to present one Merino wool look and a six-piece capsule concept to determine two winners who will go on to compete in the International Woolmark Prize final with the other regional winners. The USA regional award will take place in New York City this July.
The International Woolmark Prize is an award for outstanding achievers in the early stages of their career who have shown promise and dedication in establishing and growing a fashion business. This global initiative crosses borders and cultures to identify the most important designers of the future and highlights the modernity of Merino wool within their collections.
