British mega-retailer Topshop debuted its new Kate Moss-branded clothing line at Barneys' New York flagship last week to a crowd of eager shoppers. The heavily publicized unveiling could be a prelude to Topshop taking Manhattan -- one neighborhood at a time.
The retailer is currently looking at six potential spaces in three Manhattan neighborhoods, according to Faith Hope Consolo, head of Prudential Douglas Elliman's retail leasing and sales division. Although Topshop is one of Britain's biggest retailers and has stores in 30 countries in addition to its numerous UK outposts, the "fast-fashion" company has been slow to enter the Manhattan market....
