Poetic Punk: Tiger of Sweden SS14

August 29, 2013 BY OBI ANYANWU

For 110 years, Tiger of Sweden has built a tradition and a lifestyle with optimum tailoring. From Uddevalla, a small town on Sweden's west coast, to now being distributed in 20 different countries, Tiger of Sweden has built a reputation the exceeds the brand itself and spills into Swedish fashion. There are hundreds of fashion lines in Sweden, but none are as deeply woven into the country's history as Tiger of Sweden. In 1993, the brand's 90th year in business, they repositioned themselves with a new mission of “taking the suit from the bank to the street” and added jeans, shoes, and accessories to their collections. The brand took fashion into the new millennium with the trendy, high quality leisure suit movement. Tiger of Sweden has tailored suits for the stylish man that knows quality and will never sacrifice it for an off-duty outfit.

Tiger of Sweden closed out Stockholm Fashion Week with their SS14 collection entitled, 'Poetic-Punk'. The collection adds a dash of rebellion into classic menswear and womenswear by clashing minimal tailoring and a monochrome color palette with dotted and plaid patterns respectively, a nod to the punk style of today and yesteryear . The womenswear side has biker detailing and angular fits infused with a soft color palette and slim tailoring adding some edge to the very feminine collection. The most notable pieces are the plaid kilt from the men's collection and the croc embossed overalls from the women's collection, the most "anti" looks of the collection.
