Paris Preview: East Harbor Surplus

June 11, 2015 BY LUKE ALLARD

The name East Harbor Surplus evokes an exchange of ideas between the East and West, and designer Taemin Han, the owner of San Francisco Market -- the iconic menswear shop in Seoul, South Korea, balances Western craftsmanship with an Eastern appreciation of traditional Italian tailoring in this collection making its Capsule Paris debut.

East Harbor Surplus is a new collection of fine suiting made in Italy. The line is designed by Han, a graduate of the prestigious Polimoda who spends several months a year in Florence, and had worked as a designer in Italy for four years before returning to Seoul. Han chooses special Italian fabrics -- cotton, wool, and an excellent cotton-linen blend for his suitings. The collection is inspired by Italian casualwear, and US Army style from WWII.

For SS16 look for a summer trench coat to emerge as a key item.

East Harbor Surplus is currently sold at General Standard, Union Made, Boon The Shop, and Archiv, among others.

Meet Mr Han and preview the collection at Capsule Paris.
