Luxury eyewear maker Garrett Leight opened his first store in NYC between Crosby and Lafayette in the heart of SoHo. The 1100 square foot store features a custom shopping experience based on the brand’s online Modshop that allows customers to personalize their frames. The warm, minimalist space includes a serpentine garden of cacti and succulents with bench seating, an analog vinyl listening station and a lower level where GLCO will open the space to artists, musicians and events.
Located right near other destination shops like Opening Ceremony, Totokaelo, Bape and Kith, the store at 149 Grand, designed by architects West of West, pays respect to the building’s two hundred years’ history with original brick walls and architectural detailing.
The shop offers 800 pairs of sun and optical frames ready to be outfitted by licensed opticians. Add in all the works of a GLCO store – custom cabinetry and seating, lush flora, interactive displays, framed imagery, and volumes of GLCO’s original Spectacle Magazine – and consider this a Californian oasis in the heart of Manhattan.
