With the eccentric British gentleman as muse, London-based Percival combines playful prints, contrast linings, unusual buttons and unexpected colors to punctuate their quality workmanship and timeless styling. Founded in 2009 by Chris Gove and Luke Stenzhorn, both designers and illustrators, Percival strives to create a tailored fit in each piece they design in an effort to keep the brand looking fresh and modern. And although everything is designed in London and made in the UK when possible, Percival injects a bit of worldly flair by traveling the globe in search of unique fabrics. This season, Percival will be showing with Capsule at our mens show in Paris.
The launch of Korean brand RE;CODE is a master class in taking something wasteful and turning it into something beneficial for a whole new audience. In this case, the founders of the brand looked to the millions of dollars worth of clothing incinerated every year once its out of season. Rather than destroy the garments, RE;CODE steps in and turns them into new pieces altogether. The desconstruction process begins with the help of the local community and charitable organizations. The new pieces are designed by independent designers to give them a platform to show off their talent and then manufactured by master craftsmen in a Seoul atelier, who ensure that the results are crisp, clean and tailored. In the words of designer Kenta Goto, Reigning Champ is not collections-based brand, but rather a product-based brand that is focused on offering the best in unique knitwear in timeless styles. Goto and brand director Craig Atkinson are known as the Kings of Fleece, and one look at their goods is enough to explain why: not only is everything made in Vancouver with an emphasis on fit and durability, but everything is also made by hand. Thats the kind of attention and care that separates Reigning Champs cardigans, jackets, tees and hoodies from the rest. Reigning Champ is suiting up for our New York show. Be sure to check them out.
You dont last 100 years in the menswear game without mastering a thing or two. And William Fox & Sons, the British sporting brand celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2013, is not an exception to that rule. What began back then as a small family-owned business, has grown to include an entire brand of gentlemans attire, combining the British Isles legacy of mens tailoring, knitting and manufacturing with their time-honored sporting excellence. Think quilted coats perfect for the outdoors, fair isle sweaters and backpacks that will become your staple season after season. Were lucky enough to have William Fox & Sons spending time at Capsule in both Paris and New York this January. Come wish them a happy birthday in person.
