The athleisure trend rolls on. Menswear e-commerce giant Mr Porter will launch Mr Porter Sport, a performance-minded section that will exist in its own area on the site, reports the Wall Street Journal.
Mr Porter Sport follows the introduction of a similar section on sister site Net-a-Porter, called, humorously, Net-a-Sporter. WSJ says the men's version will kick off with 25 brands, including Arc’teryx, Newton, Matuse, and Patagonia.
“We’ve always dabbled in sport to a certain extent, thinking of the broader lifestyle of our customers, and reaction to that was strong,” Toby Bateman, Mr Porter’s buying director told the paper, noting that a survey of their customers from around the world found that 90% participated in some form of exercise weekly.
It's been a big spring for Mr Porter and parent company Net-a-Porter, who announced in March they would be merging with another online retail juggernaut, Yoox Group. Mr Porter Sport is set to go live tomorrow, April 28.
