MILAN: S/S 2010 - BURBERRY PRORSUM

June 21, 2009 BY CAPSULESNEWS

burberry-prorsum37.jpgAlthough Christopher Bailey reintroduced the famed Burberry check for his most recent A/W collection, S/S was dominated by his much imitated disheveled look, mixed effortlessly with sporty outerwear & rugged accessories. Along with lightweight trousers in various neutrals, shirts adorned with bondage straps were paired with everything from the houses’ classic Trench to bright colored sporty jackets (that were reminiscent of Bailey’s surf-inspired collection for S/S ’08). Both colors and fabrics lightened up towards the end of the collection with pastel jackets, blazers and sweaters that seemed perfect to layer for the warmer months. Even with these sporadic bursts of color, the overwhelmingly neutral palette was packed full of highly sellable outerwear (waxed and quilted) and paired with oversized leather trimmed rucksacks and totes. Personally I’m all about that cape in look 13, but that’s probably just me getting stoked for Givenchy next week! –Andrew Mukamal (photos via men.style.com)
