MILAN RUNWAY: A/W 2009 - NEIL BARRETT

January 20, 2009 BY CAPSULESNEWS

00370m.jpgNeil Barrett's A/W 2009 collection created clothing described as  Abstract Eccentric, which resulted in a modern mix of traditional English tailoring and innovative new types and combinations of clothing. The collection was extremely creative and deceptive, in that nothing was really as it seemed. Interpretations of outerwear was layered ito look like collaged coats, knit anklets were layered under trousers to create the impression of leggings. The show was also in touch with many of the fall's most promising trends, like the statement pant, which was shown in colored patterns, bold solids, with a dropped crotch, and in the form of baggy long-jonhs. Additionally, black wingtip shoes, which were staples of Ricardo Tisci's collection for spring at Givenchy, were worn throughout. Also, the color red, which was favored at Chanel's and Giambattista Valli's pre-fall shows, was chosen to close the show in the form of a Sportcoat, Trouser and Trench. All in all, this was one of the most inspiring and original Fall colletions yet, and has set the bar high for competetors in Paris. - Andrew Mukamal (photos via men.style.com)
