Capsule New York Preview: Kopal

August 28, 2016 BY CAPSULE

This season follows Kopal's travels from Cuba to Japan, and somewhere between lies a world full of adventure and inspiration, mixing traditional patterns and colors with passionate, fun-filled details.

Kopal's journies allow her to apply a global lens to how she looks at fabrics, helping her combine traditions from different countries - the passion of Cuba with the tradition of Japan in a sexy and timeless way.

Every piece tells a story, using a variety of fabrics from traditional handloom and ikats, to original hand prints, all made using age old Indian techniques. The colors draw from vegetable dyes, soft georgette, rich embroideries, and hand block prints on beautiful palettes of pastel pink, blue, orange, yellow and the rich Indigo blue, which is the signature of Kopal’s every line.

The style-conscious festival girls will swap out their maxi dresses and skinny jeans for peasant blouses and pleated pants with creased fronts and paperbag waists, all with hand-made embellishments and detailing.
