Inspirations AW16: RAEN Eyewear

November 17, 2015 BY CAPSULE

Raen Eyewear's distinctively design driven styles take their influences from mid-century lines, architecture, and timeless shapes, each handmade using the highest quality materials and Carl Zeiss lenses.

We got a sneak peek into the minds of the design team, as they put the finishing touches on AW16. Here are their inspirations...

"The concept was to combine materials that are referencing equal parts organic materials and man made materials. In this case, we were referencing kelp and concrete. This acetate combination is a very tricky lamination technique, that includes mixed finishing processes as well as mixed materials. The warm green kelp material forms the interior base of the laminate, and receives a high polished, glossy finish. The outside front and temple material will be the textured grey tortoise material, with a soft touch matte finish, referencing cool grey concrete. The juxtaposition of materials and finishes yields a very unique, masculine collection. This collection will be rendered in five of our best men’s frames, available in limited releases through 2016."-- Raen design team
