In Good Company: Marius Petrus

June 28, 2013 BY OBI ANYANWU

"Designer to Watch" Marius Petrus launched his eponymous line this year after short stints with Alexander McQueen and Raf Simons. Petrus, now living in Antwerp, produces bold patterns designed in-house on new and innovative cuts. Modern masculine menswear is the name Petrus' game, pushing the envelope in hopes of changing the scope of menswear design.
For SS14, Petrus continues to innovate with bright, eye-catching prints and layering. Blue, red, and pink patterns pop on solid white and black bomber jackets and shorts
We caught up with Petrus for a brief Q&A about the summer, his travel plans, and his personal style.

Where do you live?

Antwerp, Belgium.

Describe your personal style?

A mix of vintage, heritage and the occasional designer piece, next to some of my owndesigns.

Please fill in the blank:

This summer I am looking forward to wearing: some samples of the upcoming S/S14 collection!

Tell us about any upcoming travel plans: where are you going? What is the purpose of your trip?

Are you staying anywhere special or doing anything spectacular? Unfortunately I am really busy, so no travel plans for the moment, except for Paris, for PFW and capsule Paris - Which I am really looking forward to. I've been planning a trip to Japan for a while, but haven't found a gap in my schedule yet.

Please tell us about your residence. Where do you live?

I currently live in a spacious 60's apartment building in the center of Antwerp - one of the many benefits of living in Antwerp, with a good friend of mine. It's still a long way from being furnished the way I'd like it to be, but for now it's a mix of nice vintage pieces and some random basics.

Please complete this sentence: “ The personality make(s) the man “

Check out Marius Petrus' full SS14 collection this weekend at Capsule Paris and next week at Capsule Berlin.
