For Mary Wasziewicz, Marketing and Product Development Manager for Randolph Engineering, the commute from the Massachusetts based eyewear label's headquarters to NYC is a frequent and by the sounds of it, enjoyable one. This week, she took us along for the ride into the big smoke to visit our offices on 8th Avenue. Take a look below:
The S/S 2013 Michael Bastian for Randolph samples are all in, so I take a day trip to NYC to get product stills and lookbook/campaign shots. Through the magic of Ryan Carville's photography we turn the BPMW offices into a luxe summer pool party.
I'm up at 5 am to catch an early morning train to Gotham City #zombie
The ride from BOS to NYC via Amtrak is really lovely Noise cancellation headphones, Spotify, a café car, and legroom for days.
America may run on Dunkin, but Manhattan survives on Starbucks
Sunglasses are total divas. To avoid reflections in the lenses they need "white rooms" constructed for them.
While the product stills are chugging along I talk Capsule with Chris Corrado. I wonder if biking around the office is a Friday thang.
Michael Bastian is the MASTER of artful dishevelment. Having watched him in action a few times I regularly take it upon myself to adjust my co-worker's shirts. They'll thank me later.
Our photo crew packs it up. Ryan shares this tip: Get a Press Pass online and all your extra/oversized bags are only $25 extra on most airlines. You're welcome.
Feeling grateful we make eyewear and not combat boots. A good tote bag is usually all I need.
The moment on 8th Ave I realize it'll be faster walking to Penn Station than trying to hail a cab. Shortly thereafter a spirited homeless man yells at me for "Playin' stupid!".
Admiring some contact sheets on the train back to Beantown. Being a woman working in menswear isn't so bad!
