Riccardo Tisci is pushing Givenchy's menswear component into a solo act, showing the luxury line's Resort 2013 collection independently for the first time. The prolific designer is making an investment in growing Givenchy Men's, and the pre-collection is a first step into the development of a line that will communicate a "Personal, strong and recognizable wardrobe for men," Tisci said to WWD.
Tisci is known to maintain a continuous narrative across seasonal collections, and building on the Fall Runway collection, resort explores the theme of childhood memories with a military twist. Utilitarian pieces are softened with pastels, paisleys and pinks, with a busy army inspired print with WWI planes flying across cottons as one of the standout looks. Tartan and bib-front shirts, and Bermuda shorts are balanced with oversized tees and hoodies giving the collection a dynamic quality that can be worn as both classic uniform and as streetwear depending on how you style the pieces.
The new collection comes just in time for rappers to update their video wardrobes, Swizz Beats rocked one of the viral Rottweiler tees in his "Street Knock" video featuring A$AP Rocky a solid 6 months after Tyga wore it on 106 and Park. So embarrassing.
