Inside the CFDA's New Instagram Book

When the CFDA announced that it would be presenting Instagram with the 2015 Media Award, it was a sign of just how much they believed the app has become an indispensable tool within the industry. And if there were any remaining doubts about the love the CFDA and its members have for IG, they should be erased with the publication of the CFDA's new book: Designers on Instagram: #Fashion (although CFDA CEO Steven Kolb tells that the timing of the book's release so close to this year's CFDA Awards is purely coincidental).

Divided into sections including #TBT, #BehindTheSeams, #Inspiration and, of course, #Selfies, the 256-page tome makes use of the eye for aesthetics so many member designers possess, mining their accounts to reprint an assortment of colorful, diverse and sometimes personal images.

In the book's foreward, Instagram co-founder and CEO Kevin Systrom praises the authenticity and spontaneity the app encourages, noting that "the fashion community on Instagram teaches us the art of how to simply and powerfully unlock a story."

Kolb agrees, writing in his introduction that Instagram is one of the "strongest mediums" to help the CFDA achieve its main goal of strengthening "the influence and success of the American fashion industry."
