The Shiny Squirrel is a show room and PR company founded by Jessica Goldfond, a long time blogger and taste maker in the New York design and artisan community. For the past couple of seasons Jessica has reserved a booth at (capsule) women's to showcase her collective of designers. To be honest, the booth was packed with goodness, but we took on the (very difficult) task of choosing five of our favorites, all pieces by brands you should watch in F/W 2012.
1. Laura Lombardi, Circle Pendant Necklace Laura Lombardi is a small, eponymous collection of jewelry made from carefully selected vintage and repurposed materials. Each piece is crafted by hand in Chicago, Illinois.
2. Bedford Street Laundry, Neon Cuff Crop Sweatshirt
Bedford Street Laundry is a women's line designed and created in Queens NYC by Jessica Yuen, a Parsons educated designer who's worked with the likes of Sean 'Ditty' Combs, Chris Brown and Kanye West.
3 & 4. Cold Picnic Bison Ring and Leather Print Textile Cuffs
Cold Picnic was founded by Phoebe Sung and Peter Buer, two NYC designers who make everything by hand, using objects from the past for inspiration.
5. Species by the Thousands Draw Cuff
Brooklyn based Species by the Thousands was founded by Erica Bradbury. She painting, drawing and design to create a variety of jewelry and printed wares made from sustainable materials such as vintage, reclaimed metals, organic and recycled fibers.
