(Capsule) NY: Stetson

January 18, 2010 BY CAPSULESNEWS

The main level at the Angel Orensanz Foundation is teeming with heritage today. Stetson, founded in 1865, has brought to the floor a series of hats nostalgic of another time and era, all sewn together in Texas. Trapper hats, lined with all-American Woolrich fabrics, seem to be catching the crowd’s attention. Other pieces of the Woolrich ilk line shelves, looking especially seductive to those of us living in unforgiving climates this winter.

After perusing the warm assemblage of caps, the eye discovers an unexpected addition to the Stetson display. Grant Bloodworth, representing the company at (capsule), explains that the trophy cup he has placed among his wares is a testament to the 100+ yearlong history of the brand. In 1913, the company’s Athletic Association hosted an inter-departmental tournament. The Shipping Department proved victorious, and took home the handsome trophy. But today it sits at (capsule) for all to enjoy. More photos after the jump. (--Antonio Reis)
