Capsule NY Preview: Modern Culture Meets the Natural World at Base Range

August 21, 2014 BY WE ARE THE MARKET

Back in the 90s, fashion icons anchored their look with a good foundation piece—bodysuits, bra tops and leggings were the core of any girl’s wardrobe.

For SS15, Base Range is looking back to that time with a fresh offering of high quality modern basics and activewear made from organic fabrics and natural fibers such as organic cotton, recycled cotton or wool, natural silk or linen and bamboo.

Shiny silk is a key fabric this season. A palette of nude color basics anchor the collection, and silhouettes range from the oversized (overalls) to the tiny (racer neck bra tops).

The folks behind the label are committed to supporting a strong belief that sustainable products should not be a luxury. This philosophy has led to the brand working exclusively with small family-based factories, and analyzing elements of the manufacturing process in order to minimize impact on the environment. A big part of Base Range’s product group is raw or ecru (off white), meaning that there has been no dying or chemical bleaching processes on these products.
