Fashion people love to go against the current, and Kate Ciepluch, former fashion director of Shopbop is no exception. She launched Laveer -- a line of tailored blazers and outerwear, in her distinct urban/bohéme aesthetic in 2012, naming it after an old nautical term, which means ‘to sail against the wind.’ The collection was designed to satisfy Kate's continual quest for pieces that are simultaneously classic and cool and chic. American coastal references are prevalent in a collection which balances work and play.
For SS15 Laveer expands upon its outerwear focus with a cropped bustier, a swingy skirt that converts from midi to mini, as well as a tailored short romper. The collection is inspired by Central America's dry season and wet season.
References include volcanos erupting, banana leaf prints, and an earthy color palette simulating extreme heat, a brown undernourished landscape followed by a rebirth of growth with water hues. Check out the collection at Capsule New York and don’t miss the dramatic cowl neck poncho!
