We asked buyers and editors what key trends they’re looking for and what brands they love for spring 2007.
“Athletic and Sport- inspired was a huge theme on the European runways and I think will play an important role in the American Contemporary market, especially bright Olympic colors. I also love the return of the New England Preppy. I think what looks fresh now is: short sleeve plaid shirts, seersucker, raw denim, boat shoes, ‘Save the Whale’ T-shirt, A Filson bag, Ray-Ban aviators and a sailor’s knot bracelet.”
Brand picks: Chip & Pepper University, 7 for all Mankind, Converse by John Varvatos
— Michael Macko, Vice President, Men's Fashion, Saks Fifth Avenue
“Lots of shorts, all different lengths.”
Brand Picks: McQ by Alexander McQueen, Unis, Corpus, Nudie – Sam Ben-Avraham, Atrium, Project Show
“Japanese street wear and sneaker culture in general is inspiring me right now. All over prints is still going to be a major trend, even though we are bored with them already.”
