Ask A Retailer: Alexandra Risch, Galeries Lafayette

September 02, 2014 BY WE ARE THE MARKET

We're talking to retailers this week-- getting their perspectives on what's relevant for SS15. Today we touch base with Alexandra Risch, Junior Trendsetter / Fashion forecaster for Women and accessories at Galeries Lafayette’s trends department. Read on to find out what she's looking for for SS15.

WATM: What trends / looks will you be looking for for SS15 and why?

AR: I am actually looking for some street and sporty looks-- On the first hand, an emergent trend totally in black, with a little touch of white, that takes its inspiration from sportswear (large t-shirts, jersey shorts, jogging pants) but in a modern way. It’s a strong trend that I like to call “Dark street”, and that I’ve currently seen during different shows.

On the other hand, I like the way that designers use technical and sporty fabrics to create new silhouettes.

I also like the emergence of all the ” acid pastel ” colors in the womenswear: wearing bright colors definitely launches the new summer season!

Furthermore, I’m really looking for all these inspirations taken from the sea and the under-water world (particulary thanks to Kenzo…) : playing with different shades of blue, with pleats and transparency… There is so much to see and to do !

WATM: What are some of the brands you're most excited about seeing for next season?

AR: I can’t wait to see the new collection of April 77, D.Effect, Nanushka and Wood Wood ! I really like their brand identities.

WATM: Whats your favorite city for fashion and why?

AR: I think that my favorite city for fashion is London. First, I really like the energy of this city, like if it’s always on the move… Secondly, for fashion: they dare so much than in Paris, where I live! People will more dare to wear graphic prints, strong and bright colors!

Nevertheless, I’m still a junior, I didn’t have the chance to see many cities from now. But it’s actually changing. This summer I’ll go to Tokyo : my favorite city for fashion may have change in meanwhile… I’ll keep you in touch !
