WWD reports today that the CFDA has partnered with Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet to celebrate and promote young artists. The three year partnership aligns the women's label with a different artist each year, to create original pieces for auction with 100% of the proceeds going to the CFDA. Similar styles will then be sold at Alice + Olivia stores and other select stockists, with the CFDA receiving 50% of proceeds.
The first collaboration brings on board Spanish-born painter (and friend of Leo) Domingo Zapata. On April 28, a ballgown, bustier and two skirts hand-painted by Zapata will be auctioned off first, with other pieces featured Zapata-created prints available for purchase from $298 to $898.
"The extraordinary support we will be receiving from the brand thanks to this initiative is invaluable to our organization,” CFDA CEO Steven Kolb told WWD.
