A Sneakerhead's Dream: Vintage Adidas Treasure Trove in Buenos Aires

October 17, 2014 BY STEVE DOOL

When the team at adidas heard about a shop in Buenos Aires stocked to the ceiling with vintage adidas product, they wasted no time in assembling a team to head to Argentina to see it for themselves. What they found surprised even them - a small, sweaty shop with hundreds of rare, out of stock styles.

Shop owner Carlos graciously allowed the adidas team - including aficionado Gary Aspden, musician Ian Brown, "notorious adidas collector" Robert Brooks and adidas enthusiast Mike Chetcuti - to poke around and explore for two sweltering summer days. Photographers Neil Bedford and Greg Bond were there to document it all in the video above.

Carlos hesitates to call himself a collector, but he does have an emotional connection with the assortment he's amassed over the 35 years he's owned the shop.

"Every product that goes," he says, "I am left thinking about it as if it were my child."

A selection of the shoes will be on display as part of an adidas exhibition at Design Manchester 14, in conjunction with the adidas Originals x SPEZIAL collection, curated by Aspden.
